Fall Leaves, Spooky Themes, and Good Times

What is your favorite time of the year? What is your favorite season? The most popular consensus would answer that fall is their favorite. What is it about fall that makes everyone so ready for that time of year? Is it the aesthetic appeal from the changing of the leaves? How about the colder weather that invokes different clothing styles like hoodies? Or maybe it’s the fact that Halloween is right around the corner? Most likely a combination of it all.

You can’t forget one of the most beloved holidays that fall into that time of year. Halloween? Hello! It’s the spookiest time of the year! I got into the thick of the holiday season just this past year. The season was in full swing, from the decorating of the apartment all the way into the pumpkin spice. We didn’t go completely overboard with the whole decorating thing but definitely upped the ante from the previous year and set the stage for the next! Watching scary movies, the entire month of October, is also a great addition to the season. Yes, we watch horror movies year-round, but there’s just something about watching them the month of October. It really adds to the overall experience of the spooky season building up to the 31st.

Hiking during fall is one of my all-time favorite activities to do. It’s not too hot so that you don’t have to start at the crack of dawn just to avoid being in the blazing sun when it’s at its peak. You can sleep in and still go for an enjoyable afternoon hike. The leaves are changing so that you get to hike through rows of yellow, orange, and red. The smell of autumn air hits you like a wrecking ball pushing you to go out more and more each week. After your long, enjoyable hike, you can swing down to your favorite local coffeeshop and enjoy a nice hot pumpkin spice latte or hot apple cider. Yes, unfortunately I’m just slightly too basic and enjoy my pumpkin served hot on a heaping platter… Life still goes on and the craze of the pumpkin spice will never end. On a side note, did you know that they made a pumpkin spice ramen noodle that actually wasn’t half bad? Crazy right?! Off topic, but a necessary shout out…

I think I’ve made my case for fall being superior, but I’ll touch on one more topic briefly. The fact that it is hoodie and flannel season should be the richest selling point of all. I love my flannel button ups as much as the next guy, but it always gets too damn hot through the summer. As soon as the temperature dips though, you can’t catch me not wearing either a hoodie or a red and black patterned flannel. Well, the same is true about my flip flops regardless of the time of year, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make… Humans like to be comfortable. Fall is the perfect season for comfort clothes. Case closed and shut. Now don’t get me wrong, there are perks to every season and I just might write a piece on the perks of the different seasons. However, this was about fall…
